Bennett's Birthday

I can't believe that Bennett is four! For his birthday we headed up to the mountains to go sledding. What a perfect day is was! It was a fun way to get away from the city and see the kids in a totally different setting.
The little ones were quite bundled up - little marshmellows

Laurel was SO fearless on the hill. She was all about the sledding - all she could keep saying was more, more, more

Amy, Clara, and Callie went for a ride - Callie never really looked like she was having fun but at the end of the hill kept saying more

Someone had this great idea to let the three little kids go down the little hill all by themselves - yup, ended just as you would expect. A pile of girls at the bottom! Laurel was laughing the whole time. Maya wasn't so thrilled about the sledding but helped push everyone down the hill.

Laurel was the first little girl to try the big hill - she, of course, loved it!

Bennett and Carter lucked out and had someone pull them back up to the top of the hill each time

I talked Rey into taking Callie down the big hill - not sure she totally loved it, but she didn't cry :-)

The line up of kids waiting to go down the hill

Avery and Maya waiting patiently for the picture to get taken
All the kids - surprisingly no one tried to get up (I think they had too much clothing on to actually resist)

Although Bennett was NOT happy at all about having his picture taken. I love how excited Callie looks in this picture. I also love the way Maeve is looking at Bennett - with her speared sausage on her fork.

The ride home for the girls was quite fun. Callie and Laurel spent most of the time holding hands and Clara just sat there and giggled the whole time.

Cheese!

The birthday boy - yum, ice cream sundaes

Rolling and Reading

Callie rolls ALL over the place!!! One of her favorite places to end up is her bookshelf. Look what I found! As a side note, it looks like one of our cats is finally accepting that Callie is part of the family (or atleast, she isn't going anywhere) and has become very tolerant of her. She lets Callie "pet" her and will even walk up to Callie (which, if you know this cat, is VERY unusual - there are some people who still have never seen her). The other day when I was getting Callie from her nap this was outside her door. Apparently the cat loves Callie enough to bring her toys.

Mothers Day Weekend

We had amazing weather for Mother's Day weekend and tried to enjoy every minute of the summer. On Sunday, Callie and I ran the color run. A 5k through Seattle which involved a lot of dust and color. It was a lot of fun and  I was super proud of her and how she pushed herself. Before the race. Shirts are still white and hair is still normal color. We ran with one of Callie's good friends and her mom.  Bubbles! That was a highlight for Callie, she loved running through the bubbles.  Done! Color and dust everywhere! We spent Saturday with Katy and Dennis and explored Renton and a local beach and park. Callie and Katy The gang! Saturday was so beautiful that we actually went home and the kids ran in the sprinklers and played in the bathing suits all day.

Complete and Total Exhaustion

So, Callie has come down with a case of croup (good ol'daycare) and we had a VERY rough night on Sunday. She was up every 20 mins - hour coughing. Luckily Preston was home and we took turns with her - eventually I ended up sleeping with her in the chair (although she still woke up coughing every hour) because I didn't have to work on Monday. Needless to say, we were not a very exciting family Monday night. We were all in bed by 8 and Callie continued to get up a bit but not nearly as much as the night before. The last time I went in to see her was about 11 - the next thing I knew it was time for me to get up for work. When Preston got up, I made the comment "she slept better than on Sunday" and he just looked at me and laughed. Apparently, she got up a bunch in the middle in the night and I was just too exhausted to realize it. He said I was so out of it that one time I told him it was the rain, not Callie crying.....I'm going to choose my version of the story and...
