Mt. Bachelor

Preston's busy time is in the middle of February so Callie and I decided to leave town and head to the mountains. Unfortunately it ended up not being the best time to leave town but we made the best of it. I was a bit nervous about the 6-8 hour car ride ahead of us but we bummed a ride with Grandma and Grandpa and Callie was a star the whole ride - having me in the back with her I am sure helped.
The week started off a bit chaotic - the Jones, Sarions, and Sinclairs joined us. Maybe not the best nights of sleeping for some but all the kids had a blast! Mom was a trooper and took all 6 kids for a day so that everyone could go skiing (not quite sure how she did it). Everyone left on Tuesday and Callie got some one on one time with Grandma and Grandpa (I think she is now going through withdrawal).
Ready for the long car ride....
 Sunglasses....check!
The clan - all the kids are at a perfect age! They had a blast together.

Bennett, Maeve, and Maya attempted to try skiing on the first day - let's just say, it wasn't successful for anyone involved!
Our first day of skiing was absolutely beautiful! Blue skies and perfect snow. Amy and Dad and I quickly hurried up to enjoy the summit before it closed.
You really can't beat the view from the top
While Amy was hurrying to take the kids home, the rest of us enjoyed some great runs while we were waiting for her to come back.
I really appreciated all the time Mom gave up to take care of the kids so when everyone else left, Callie and I headed to the park so that mom and dad could have a nice, kid free, lunch in Bend.
Getting ready to go swimming - Callie loved the pool. Every time we got in the car, she would say "pool?"
The three little girls enjoying a book together
This picture totally cracks me up! It totally looks like Callie and Laurel are standing there having a conversation. Plus, just look at Clara - Ha! So cute!
Poor mom was stuck at the house with 6 kids, here we are enjoying a nice drink on the mountain
Swimming with Grandpa. We hit a different pool once everyone left and it was awesome! Callie could walk in it and jump and I didn't have to hold her the whole time. She had a blast.
 Playing in the fountains
This picture makes her look like such a big girl

We hit the Stonehenge on the way home to stretch our legs. A much needed break!

Rolling and Reading

Callie rolls ALL over the place!!! One of her favorite places to end up is her bookshelf. Look what I found! As a side note, it looks like one of our cats is finally accepting that Callie is part of the family (or atleast, she isn't going anywhere) and has become very tolerant of her. She lets Callie "pet" her and will even walk up to Callie (which, if you know this cat, is VERY unusual - there are some people who still have never seen her). The other day when I was getting Callie from her nap this was outside her door. Apparently the cat loves Callie enough to bring her toys.

Another Plane Ride

So, Callie and I spent my spring break in Pennsylvania. It was a wonderful trip and Callie just LOVED being spoiled by all her aunts and uncles, cousins, and grandmas! (she was a bit in shock when we came back home and she was stuck with just mom and dad - she also took a two hour nap the day we got back, which she has never, never (and probably never will again) done, traveling sure is exhausting!). I was a bit nervous about the very long plane ride, but besides not eating at all, Callie did fabulous! Although, she never really did understand why she couldn't grab the people sitting next to us or in front of us. Even though she got sick on the way back, she was still a wonderful traveler. She loved sitting with Grandma and looking out the plane window (yuck!). We met Grandma in Chicago - at that point in time both Grandma and Callie needed a snuggle, so they spent part of our layover cuddling up in the airport. (sorry, I took these with my cell phone) Looking out the ...

Complete and Total Exhaustion

So, Callie has come down with a case of croup (good ol'daycare) and we had a VERY rough night on Sunday. She was up every 20 mins - hour coughing. Luckily Preston was home and we took turns with her - eventually I ended up sleeping with her in the chair (although she still woke up coughing every hour) because I didn't have to work on Monday. Needless to say, we were not a very exciting family Monday night. We were all in bed by 8 and Callie continued to get up a bit but not nearly as much as the night before. The last time I went in to see her was about 11 - the next thing I knew it was time for me to get up for work. When Preston got up, I made the comment "she slept better than on Sunday" and he just looked at me and laughed. Apparently, she got up a bunch in the middle in the night and I was just too exhausted to realize it. He said I was so out of it that one time I told him it was the rain, not Callie crying.....I'm going to choose my version of the story and...
