Summer fun!

Well, summer finally arrived with a bang and we have taken every opportunity to enjoy it. We've hit the zoo, the beach, the park, and everything in between. Although I realize I didn't seem to take pictures from most of what we've done, here are some things that I have been able to capture:
We had an unexpected longer visit from Pat this summer. He seemed to LOVE Callie - and she of course, was smitten herself.

He introduced her to the video game controller - a pro in the making

Zoo trip with Taylor and Blake - I love that we put Taylor in charge of making sure Blake didn't fall out of the shark's mouth - not a good idea looking back on it :-)

She dug the shark tank

And this was her favorite - it also prompted us to have to drive home from the zoo with just a diaper. She got absolutely soaked (and we had a bit of a melt down when I told her we had to leave the water)

When I had my classroom of 24 responsible-ish fourth graders, I refused to paint with them (not even paint brushes) because of the mess that came with it but for some reason I have no problem doing it with one 11 month old little girl.....really?!

I think it's because of this.....how happy is she?!

We had a bit of a summer heat wave and introduced Callie to the Knowles tradition  of popcicles - anytime, all the time. She took to them like a pig in mud - watch out Uncle Rick!

We had a few unexpected days home sick with a fever. Of course, I got a bit stir crazy, she got a bit stir crazy - solution? Make the ultimate tunnel fort. Great idea? Yes, until the 11 month old little girl realizes how fun it is to jump on the pillows - one goes down, they all go down.

Rolling and Reading

Callie rolls ALL over the place!!! One of her favorite places to end up is her bookshelf. Look what I found! As a side note, it looks like one of our cats is finally accepting that Callie is part of the family (or atleast, she isn't going anywhere) and has become very tolerant of her. She lets Callie "pet" her and will even walk up to Callie (which, if you know this cat, is VERY unusual - there are some people who still have never seen her). The other day when I was getting Callie from her nap this was outside her door. Apparently the cat loves Callie enough to bring her toys.

Mothers Day Weekend

We had amazing weather for Mother's Day weekend and tried to enjoy every minute of the summer. On Sunday, Callie and I ran the color run. A 5k through Seattle which involved a lot of dust and color. It was a lot of fun and  I was super proud of her and how she pushed herself. Before the race. Shirts are still white and hair is still normal color. We ran with one of Callie's good friends and her mom.  Bubbles! That was a highlight for Callie, she loved running through the bubbles.  Done! Color and dust everywhere! We spent Saturday with Katy and Dennis and explored Renton and a local beach and park. Callie and Katy The gang! Saturday was so beautiful that we actually went home and the kids ran in the sprinklers and played in the bathing suits all day.

Complete and Total Exhaustion

So, Callie has come down with a case of croup (good ol'daycare) and we had a VERY rough night on Sunday. She was up every 20 mins - hour coughing. Luckily Preston was home and we took turns with her - eventually I ended up sleeping with her in the chair (although she still woke up coughing every hour) because I didn't have to work on Monday. Needless to say, we were not a very exciting family Monday night. We were all in bed by 8 and Callie continued to get up a bit but not nearly as much as the night before. The last time I went in to see her was about 11 - the next thing I knew it was time for me to get up for work. When Preston got up, I made the comment "she slept better than on Sunday" and he just looked at me and laughed. Apparently, she got up a bunch in the middle in the night and I was just too exhausted to realize it. He said I was so out of it that one time I told him it was the rain, not Callie crying.....I'm going to choose my version of the story and...
