One Month Old

It is hard to believe that our baby girl is officially one month old! Amazing!
She continues to be a happy, active baby. When she cries, it is always for a reason (although we are not always quick to figure out what the reason is, we are getting better) - either she needs a diaper, food, or to sleep (sometimes she just needs a hug too). Preston is officially back to work, it has been fabulous having him home for so long and he and Callie have truly bonded during that time.
We don't have any official stats for one month (she doesn't need to go back to the doctor until 2 months) but she continues to grow and get longer by the minute. We are continually learning new things about her:
  • She LOVES baths! If we would let her, she would just sit in the tub all day - and afterwards she is always relaxed and calm.
  • She is a fabulous traveler. We recently got the opportunity to be a part of Adam and Rachel's wedding. Callie was fabulous on the long car ride (the 4 hour car ride took us much longer due to having to stop and feed - although Preston always was able to find a Burgerville for us to stop and feed at - ahh, how life has changed), slept wonderfully in the hotel, and loved all the attention she got from friends and family.
  • She continues to be a wonderful sleeper and will go for 4 - 5 hour stretches. She wakes us grunting, not crying and will spend 5 minutes stretching before she decides it is time to eat.
  • Feeding has had its challenges but we seem to be back on track.....(keeping my fingers crossed)
  • She is much more attentive these days and loves to stare at people and things around her. I took her to church and she was fabulous the whole time. Even though she was super tired, she refused to sleep and spent the whole time looking around.
  • She loves tummy time and keeps getting stronger every day!

Often times, I wish that I could sleep as good as (or anywhere) she can!
Tummy time can certainly be exhausting

7 Months

This month seemed to have flown by just as quickly as all the others. It's crazy to think she has been part of our family for seven months already. We have had our first real battle (and are still battling) with a never ending cold. She has been a trooper though - although I wish that we could do more to help her. Here's what is new (things have moved very quickly this month): She is up on all fours. She seems to be taking after her cousin Clara, where she can crawl backwards but not yet forwards - which can be very frustrating as the toy she is trying to get to seems to just keep getting farther and farther away. After she learned to get up on all fours, she very quickly learned to go from all fours to sitting. We have yet to find any real foods that she will turn down, although green beans appears to be her favorite so far. When feeding her green beans she will lean forward VERY far and open her mouth as wide as can be just to get the next bite. We can't seem to get

Rolling and Reading

Callie rolls ALL over the place!!! One of her favorite places to end up is her bookshelf. Look what I found! As a side note, it looks like one of our cats is finally accepting that Callie is part of the family (or atleast, she isn't going anywhere) and has become very tolerant of her. She lets Callie "pet" her and will even walk up to Callie (which, if you know this cat, is VERY unusual - there are some people who still have never seen her). The other day when I was getting Callie from her nap this was outside her door. Apparently the cat loves Callie enough to bring her toys.

10 Months

So, I am a bit behind. It is officially the end of the school year and I am feeling a bit overwhelmed with learning the new job and the close of the school year. Much different from the classroom. When I took Callie in for her nine month appointment her pediatrician checked her ears (which looked totally fine) then made the comment - I don't mean to jinx you but has Callie had an ear infection yet? To which my response was no (she had a super mild one that they gave us medicine for just because we were getting on a plane to Pitt) - in my mind, my response was "no, but we have had everything else imaginable"! The newest thing: last Friday when Callie got up for the day, her eyes were swollen shut. Turns out she had pink eye which was no fun. Many rough nights later she seems to finally be getting back to her happy go lucky self. Here are the newest things about Callie: She continues to get quicker walking with a push toy. Her teachers love watching her outside at da
