The end of summer

Well, for us, summer has officially ended. Our big girl has started kindergarten and we are back to a schedule and routine. In order to enjoy the last days of summer, we decided to have some fun family outings.
We headed to seattle and were tourists in our own city. We saw everything there was to see and lucked out with some good weather.

They couldn't quite figure out why people put gum all over the wall...

There's always ice cream involved when daddy is with us!
Checking out the ferry boats

We also hit the fair on opening weekend. It was surprisingly not very busy. The kids had a blast - the rides being the favorite, of course.
I got to ride the roller coaster with Callie :)

Thankfully this boy was big enough to do the rides....it could have been a problem!

This was by far Callie's favorite thing. The giant slide!

We had an awesome park date.

Preston got his hunting tree stand this weekend and the kids were more than happy to try it out,

The box was just as fun as the tree stand.

We also got to have Maya for one day before school started for her. My kids (and me!!) have immensely missed having her over....

And....our last beach date for the year.

Rolling and Reading

Callie rolls ALL over the place!!! One of her favorite places to end up is her bookshelf. Look what I found! As a side note, it looks like one of our cats is finally accepting that Callie is part of the family (or atleast, she isn't going anywhere) and has become very tolerant of her. She lets Callie "pet" her and will even walk up to Callie (which, if you know this cat, is VERY unusual - there are some people who still have never seen her). The other day when I was getting Callie from her nap this was outside her door. Apparently the cat loves Callie enough to bring her toys.

Another Plane Ride

So, Callie and I spent my spring break in Pennsylvania. It was a wonderful trip and Callie just LOVED being spoiled by all her aunts and uncles, cousins, and grandmas! (she was a bit in shock when we came back home and she was stuck with just mom and dad - she also took a two hour nap the day we got back, which she has never, never (and probably never will again) done, traveling sure is exhausting!). I was a bit nervous about the very long plane ride, but besides not eating at all, Callie did fabulous! Although, she never really did understand why she couldn't grab the people sitting next to us or in front of us. Even though she got sick on the way back, she was still a wonderful traveler. She loved sitting with Grandma and looking out the plane window (yuck!). We met Grandma in Chicago - at that point in time both Grandma and Callie needed a snuggle, so they spent part of our layover cuddling up in the airport. (sorry, I took these with my cell phone) Looking out the ...

Mothers Day Weekend

We had amazing weather for Mother's Day weekend and tried to enjoy every minute of the summer. On Sunday, Callie and I ran the color run. A 5k through Seattle which involved a lot of dust and color. It was a lot of fun and  I was super proud of her and how she pushed herself. Before the race. Shirts are still white and hair is still normal color. We ran with one of Callie's good friends and her mom.  Bubbles! That was a highlight for Callie, she loved running through the bubbles.  Done! Color and dust everywhere! We spent Saturday with Katy and Dennis and explored Renton and a local beach and park. Callie and Katy The gang! Saturday was so beautiful that we actually went home and the kids ran in the sprinklers and played in the bathing suits all day.
