Thanksgiving Fun

This Thanksgiving turned into a relaxing weekend of family, hiking, and delicious food. We headed to the Knowles side of the family for Thanksgiving dinner. We played many games inside and lucked out with some cold but sunny weather outside. It was a wonderful day and I couldn't have asked for a better time.
Liam spent some time pushing grandma's gardening wagon around the neighborhood

We played a ton of games outside, including capture the flag and red light, green light
Maya and Callie were a team and Preston and Laurel were a team.

I love this picture - Preston and Laurel (on Preston's back) are sneaking up on the 2 girls

Enjoying some grandpa snuggles

After dinner, we headed over to Hoodsport to spend a quiet weekend at the cabin. We hit up some local hiking trails and spent some time at the beach throwing rocks in the water. The way home from the cabin, we decided to find a u-cut tree farm to get our Christmas tree. We kept with the Knowles tradition of getting lost on the way to the farm, but ended up find the 'perfect' tree (when we eventually found the farm).

We found a pretty awesome cave on the hike and Preston and the kids ventured in for a bit of a look around. They didn't stay in there long - they found some massive bugs

Did I mention it was very cold?

We found giant icicles along the way

Nothing like a hollow tree to enjoy a snack

We carried those binoculars around everywhere!

A little beach fun

Liam would not stop running around the tree farm for a picture with Callie so she took one by herself. The 'perfect' tree!

Rolling and Reading

Callie rolls ALL over the place!!! One of her favorite places to end up is her bookshelf. Look what I found! As a side note, it looks like one of our cats is finally accepting that Callie is part of the family (or atleast, she isn't going anywhere) and has become very tolerant of her. She lets Callie "pet" her and will even walk up to Callie (which, if you know this cat, is VERY unusual - there are some people who still have never seen her). The other day when I was getting Callie from her nap this was outside her door. Apparently the cat loves Callie enough to bring her toys.

Mothers Day Weekend

We had amazing weather for Mother's Day weekend and tried to enjoy every minute of the summer. On Sunday, Callie and I ran the color run. A 5k through Seattle which involved a lot of dust and color. It was a lot of fun and  I was super proud of her and how she pushed herself. Before the race. Shirts are still white and hair is still normal color. We ran with one of Callie's good friends and her mom.  Bubbles! That was a highlight for Callie, she loved running through the bubbles.  Done! Color and dust everywhere! We spent Saturday with Katy and Dennis and explored Renton and a local beach and park. Callie and Katy The gang! Saturday was so beautiful that we actually went home and the kids ran in the sprinklers and played in the bathing suits all day.

Complete and Total Exhaustion

So, Callie has come down with a case of croup (good ol'daycare) and we had a VERY rough night on Sunday. She was up every 20 mins - hour coughing. Luckily Preston was home and we took turns with her - eventually I ended up sleeping with her in the chair (although she still woke up coughing every hour) because I didn't have to work on Monday. Needless to say, we were not a very exciting family Monday night. We were all in bed by 8 and Callie continued to get up a bit but not nearly as much as the night before. The last time I went in to see her was about 11 - the next thing I knew it was time for me to get up for work. When Preston got up, I made the comment "she slept better than on Sunday" and he just looked at me and laughed. Apparently, she got up a bunch in the middle in the night and I was just too exhausted to realize it. He said I was so out of it that one time I told him it was the rain, not Callie crying.....I'm going to choose my version of the story and...
