Summer Fun

It's been a while since I've posted....sorry! Callie and I have been enjoying our summer start and have been staying very busy. Although we have not really had summer weather here, we've been creative in our outings. Here's some pictures from some of the things we have been doing.....

We have spent a lot of time in our backyard this year. We decided to rip all the grass and plants out and level and replant. Callie got a kick out of the diggers that were housed in our backyard.

We have taken quite a few trips to the zoo already. We are very lucky to be stuck right between the Tacoma and Seattle zoo - I love both of them!
Callie loved the monkeys - she talked about them for days. She couldn't get past the fact that they were eating in their beds!

My little goof ball!

We really like this too - the seal kept swimming right up to Callie and she would giggle each time he rubbed against the glass.

It has been raining quite a bit around here - so instead of staying inside, we have splashed in tons of puddles!

Rachel and the boys introduced us to a new park. It was very fun - the beach, crabs, a ferry boat, and a playground.....it was heaven!

Wyatt throwing rocks into the water

We spent Father's day planting flowers - I couldn't get Callie out of her church dress :-) It was very muddy afterwards.

Mixing the dirt with papa.

We have headed to a lot of playgrounds. It is so nice that she is more independent on the playgrounds.

The swings are her favorite!

We spent an afternoon washing the bus.....

We headed up to Hoodsport for Kristine's and Katy's birthday. Callie had her first Graham taco and loved it!

Amy was nice enough to let us try out her backpack - Callie really enjoyed it.

We picked a lot of flowers on our walk

Rolling and Reading

Callie rolls ALL over the place!!! One of her favorite places to end up is her bookshelf. Look what I found! As a side note, it looks like one of our cats is finally accepting that Callie is part of the family (or atleast, she isn't going anywhere) and has become very tolerant of her. She lets Callie "pet" her and will even walk up to Callie (which, if you know this cat, is VERY unusual - there are some people who still have never seen her). The other day when I was getting Callie from her nap this was outside her door. Apparently the cat loves Callie enough to bring her toys.

Mothers Day Weekend

We had amazing weather for Mother's Day weekend and tried to enjoy every minute of the summer. On Sunday, Callie and I ran the color run. A 5k through Seattle which involved a lot of dust and color. It was a lot of fun and  I was super proud of her and how she pushed herself. Before the race. Shirts are still white and hair is still normal color. We ran with one of Callie's good friends and her mom.  Bubbles! That was a highlight for Callie, she loved running through the bubbles.  Done! Color and dust everywhere! We spent Saturday with Katy and Dennis and explored Renton and a local beach and park. Callie and Katy The gang! Saturday was so beautiful that we actually went home and the kids ran in the sprinklers and played in the bathing suits all day.

Complete and Total Exhaustion

So, Callie has come down with a case of croup (good ol'daycare) and we had a VERY rough night on Sunday. She was up every 20 mins - hour coughing. Luckily Preston was home and we took turns with her - eventually I ended up sleeping with her in the chair (although she still woke up coughing every hour) because I didn't have to work on Monday. Needless to say, we were not a very exciting family Monday night. We were all in bed by 8 and Callie continued to get up a bit but not nearly as much as the night before. The last time I went in to see her was about 11 - the next thing I knew it was time for me to get up for work. When Preston got up, I made the comment "she slept better than on Sunday" and he just looked at me and laughed. Apparently, she got up a bunch in the middle in the night and I was just too exhausted to realize it. He said I was so out of it that one time I told him it was the rain, not Callie crying.....I'm going to choose my version of the story and...
