10 Months

So, I am a bit behind. It is officially the end of the school year and I am feeling a bit overwhelmed with learning the new job and the close of the school year. Much different from the classroom. When I took Callie in for her nine month appointment her pediatrician checked her ears (which looked totally fine) then made the comment - I don't mean to jinx you but has Callie had an ear infection yet? To which my response was no (she had a super mild one that they gave us medicine for just because we were getting on a plane to Pitt) - in my mind, my response was "no, but we have had everything else imaginable"!
The newest thing: last Friday when Callie got up for the day, her eyes were swollen shut. Turns out she had pink eye which was no fun. Many rough nights later she seems to finally be getting back to her happy go lucky self.

Here are the newest things about Callie:
  • She continues to get quicker walking with a push toy. Her teachers love watching her outside at daycare because she moves so fast with nothing to stop her. She travels from one side of the house to the other in record time.
  • She now eats whatever we eat for dinner, which is VERY nice. I am no longer cooking anything special for her - she gets what we get and hasn't complained once about it. She totally has her favorites, lasagna being one of them. They served lasagna at day care the other day and she had 4 servings! That's my girl!
  • She can now blow kisses and give five
  • She is fascinated with opening and closing things, and putting things in and taking them out again.
  • She loves being around other kids - it doesn't seem to matter if she knows them or not (although she does seem to favor her older cousins and seems to love Wyatt).
  • She can now sign for milk - although doesn't seem to do it to tell us she wants it but tends to do it after she sees the milk or the bottle.
  • She loves to climb things (we often pile all the couch cushions and she just goes to town on them) and crawl through things (tunnels, between furniture, between legs - doesn't matter whose).
  • Callie is very good at telling us when she is frustrated with us or when we do something she doesn't like.
  • She is extremely persistent and "no" doesn't seem to stop her (in fact, she will look at you, smile, and continue to do it).
  • Callie has gotten one of her top teeth and the one next to it - right now she's a bit lopsided on the top.
  • She LOVES music and will drop anything to dance when given the chance!

Hanging with grandmother

She loves hanging out under the table

How can you not love this face - especially if it's one of the first things you see when you get up in the morning?!

Crawling through a mom made tunnel - yes, it collapsed right on top of her which she thought was hilarious

A new fun game she learned - yes, she can pull ALL the toilet paper off the roll in case you were wondering

    Attacking the cat

:-(  Lots of cuddling went on during the pink eye - this was taken after we started the antibiotics, she looks better than when she woke up if you can imagine

Crawled to the top of the couch and taking a break

Rolling and Reading

Callie rolls ALL over the place!!! One of her favorite places to end up is her bookshelf. Look what I found! As a side note, it looks like one of our cats is finally accepting that Callie is part of the family (or atleast, she isn't going anywhere) and has become very tolerant of her. She lets Callie "pet" her and will even walk up to Callie (which, if you know this cat, is VERY unusual - there are some people who still have never seen her). The other day when I was getting Callie from her nap this was outside her door. Apparently the cat loves Callie enough to bring her toys.

Another Plane Ride

So, Callie and I spent my spring break in Pennsylvania. It was a wonderful trip and Callie just LOVED being spoiled by all her aunts and uncles, cousins, and grandmas! (she was a bit in shock when we came back home and she was stuck with just mom and dad - she also took a two hour nap the day we got back, which she has never, never (and probably never will again) done, traveling sure is exhausting!). I was a bit nervous about the very long plane ride, but besides not eating at all, Callie did fabulous! Although, she never really did understand why she couldn't grab the people sitting next to us or in front of us. Even though she got sick on the way back, she was still a wonderful traveler. She loved sitting with Grandma and looking out the plane window (yuck!). We met Grandma in Chicago - at that point in time both Grandma and Callie needed a snuggle, so they spent part of our layover cuddling up in the airport. (sorry, I took these with my cell phone) Looking out the ...

Complete and Total Exhaustion

So, Callie has come down with a case of croup (good ol'daycare) and we had a VERY rough night on Sunday. She was up every 20 mins - hour coughing. Luckily Preston was home and we took turns with her - eventually I ended up sleeping with her in the chair (although she still woke up coughing every hour) because I didn't have to work on Monday. Needless to say, we were not a very exciting family Monday night. We were all in bed by 8 and Callie continued to get up a bit but not nearly as much as the night before. The last time I went in to see her was about 11 - the next thing I knew it was time for me to get up for work. When Preston got up, I made the comment "she slept better than on Sunday" and he just looked at me and laughed. Apparently, she got up a bunch in the middle in the night and I was just too exhausted to realize it. He said I was so out of it that one time I told him it was the rain, not Callie crying.....I'm going to choose my version of the story and...
