Arizona

I realize I am a bit behind on updating the blog (Liam's 8 month post will be up shortly) and am trying to update.
The kids and I spent a wonderful (and hot) 5 days visiting Gram in Arizona. It was amazing!!! Callie had a blast (she got to swim everyday - she was in heaven!) and Liam loved the freedom of no schedule! It was a lot of fun and I am so happy for our kids to be able to spend so much quality time with their great grandma. I am sure she is still resting from the whirlwind that is an 8 month old baby and a 3 year old girl. We went to the children's museum, the zoo, and swam every day. Although I would probably choose not to fly with an 8 month old and 3 year old by myself again, it was worth every minute!
These pictures are a bit out of order but I don't want to spend time getting them organized :)
The vacation was completely exhausting for both kids! We worked them very hard every day with hopes that they would both be amazing sleepers and I could get a good night sleep as well. Liam crashed whenever he got a chance! Callie is trying to wake him up without really waking him up....she knew she would get in trouble if she woke him up....oddly enough, he was awake in about  5 minutes after I took this picture :-) Callie, of course, claims she had nothing to do with it!

Enjoying an evening swim

Callie soaked up the vacation life....she blended right in

Tired snuggles with Gram

This poor boy caught something from the airplane on the way to Arizona and was pretty zonked a bit of the trip. A lot of congestion.....a lot of rest
I love this!

Callie was very tired at the end of each and every day!

More swimming....

and more smiles!

We headed to the zoo and enjoyed the shade and the animals!
Brother and sister love (I had to bribe her to take a picture)

The new giant turtle

She was so excited because there were bears
I love this picture!

Callie loved spending time with Gram!

The plane ride

Callie's highlight for the airplane trip was the lollipop she got to eat during landing and take off

We also spent a morning at the children's museum. We had a blast!

Liam loved that he didn't have to stay cooped up in the stroller

But he wasn't so sure about this super cool tunnel

This picture is for Grandpa :)

Enjoying some quiet time before a swim

Rolling and Reading

Callie rolls ALL over the place!!! One of her favorite places to end up is her bookshelf. Look what I found! As a side note, it looks like one of our cats is finally accepting that Callie is part of the family (or atleast, she isn't going anywhere) and has become very tolerant of her. She lets Callie "pet" her and will even walk up to Callie (which, if you know this cat, is VERY unusual - there are some people who still have never seen her). The other day when I was getting Callie from her nap this was outside her door. Apparently the cat loves Callie enough to bring her toys.

9 Months

It's hard to believe that in 3 months our beautiful daughter will be 1 year old! How fast time flies (and how quickly she changes). Here's some updates (on our very big bug): She weighs in at a whopping 20 lb 13 oz (81% percentile) and continues to be VERY long, measuring in at 29.75 inches (98% percentile). Again, we are not sure who she got that gene from. She now not only can get herself down from the standing position but she also has had a few moments when she has stood totally by herself. On Mother's Day she stood for a good 5 seconds all by herself. Daycare tells us that she now uses other kids heads to help herself stand up (sorry!). She can also walk along the couch or another long piece of furniture. Today I was cooking dinner (Callie is often very content playing in the kitchen with "non toys" while I cook) and I looked over and she was pushing the kitchen chair across the floor. I was so excited, I made her do it again so I could video tape it ...

Another Plane Ride

So, Callie and I spent my spring break in Pennsylvania. It was a wonderful trip and Callie just LOVED being spoiled by all her aunts and uncles, cousins, and grandmas! (she was a bit in shock when we came back home and she was stuck with just mom and dad - she also took a two hour nap the day we got back, which she has never, never (and probably never will again) done, traveling sure is exhausting!). I was a bit nervous about the very long plane ride, but besides not eating at all, Callie did fabulous! Although, she never really did understand why she couldn't grab the people sitting next to us or in front of us. Even though she got sick on the way back, she was still a wonderful traveler. She loved sitting with Grandma and looking out the plane window (yuck!). We met Grandma in Chicago - at that point in time both Grandma and Callie needed a snuggle, so they spent part of our layover cuddling up in the airport. (sorry, I took these with my cell phone) Looking out the ...
