2 Months

Time is flying by very quickly for our family of four! Liam is an absolute angel and is growing and learning everyday.

Here's some new stats on him:

  • He is growing, growing, growing. He is 2' tall which puts him in the 85%ile for height. He is a bit on the light side, weighing in at 10lb 15oz which puts him in the 13 %ile for weight and causing us to have to come in next month for a weight check.
  • He is a great eater; although it still seems like he wants to eat constantly!
  • He still sleeps a great deal. He can only stay up an hour or an hour and a half at a time before he needs to go back down. He doesn't take very long naps in his crib - we are working on that!
  • He's started recognizing toys and instantly lights up when he sees the light up sunshine (Callie's favorite when she was a baby too!)
  • He is an extremely smiley boy! His smiles light up his whole face.
  • He has started trying to talk - he coos
  • When he is awake, he prefers to be laying down so he can see everyone and everything around him.
  • He is not the best at doing tummy time, he has realized if he just lays his head down he can suck on his fingers very easily!
  • He is hit and miss with the pacifier. He will take it for naps (although he gets and angry about it at first) but pretty much refuses at nighttime. He has started finding his fist to suck on - not sure if that will develop into anything but I'd much rather get him hooked on the pacifier than the hand (it's easier to take away)!

Practicing tummy time with his big sister:
It is exhausting!

Callie is very encouraging - we hear "lift your head brother....like this"

He is getting very strong!

Callie has fully embraced being a big sister. She walks around the house calling herself a big sister and often will tell me that I can't play with some of her toys because they are only for big sisters. Preston called her a big girl one day and her response was "I'm not a big girl, I am a big sister!".

Rolling and Reading

Callie rolls ALL over the place!!! One of her favorite places to end up is her bookshelf. Look what I found! As a side note, it looks like one of our cats is finally accepting that Callie is part of the family (or atleast, she isn't going anywhere) and has become very tolerant of her. She lets Callie "pet" her and will even walk up to Callie (which, if you know this cat, is VERY unusual - there are some people who still have never seen her). The other day when I was getting Callie from her nap this was outside her door. Apparently the cat loves Callie enough to bring her toys.

9 Months

It's hard to believe that in 3 months our beautiful daughter will be 1 year old! How fast time flies (and how quickly she changes). Here's some updates (on our very big bug): She weighs in at a whopping 20 lb 13 oz (81% percentile) and continues to be VERY long, measuring in at 29.75 inches (98% percentile). Again, we are not sure who she got that gene from. She now not only can get herself down from the standing position but she also has had a few moments when she has stood totally by herself. On Mother's Day she stood for a good 5 seconds all by herself. Daycare tells us that she now uses other kids heads to help herself stand up (sorry!). She can also walk along the couch or another long piece of furniture. Today I was cooking dinner (Callie is often very content playing in the kitchen with "non toys" while I cook) and I looked over and she was pushing the kitchen chair across the floor. I was so excited, I made her do it again so I could video tape it ...

Another Plane Ride

So, Callie and I spent my spring break in Pennsylvania. It was a wonderful trip and Callie just LOVED being spoiled by all her aunts and uncles, cousins, and grandmas! (she was a bit in shock when we came back home and she was stuck with just mom and dad - she also took a two hour nap the day we got back, which she has never, never (and probably never will again) done, traveling sure is exhausting!). I was a bit nervous about the very long plane ride, but besides not eating at all, Callie did fabulous! Although, she never really did understand why she couldn't grab the people sitting next to us or in front of us. Even though she got sick on the way back, she was still a wonderful traveler. She loved sitting with Grandma and looking out the plane window (yuck!). We met Grandma in Chicago - at that point in time both Grandma and Callie needed a snuggle, so they spent part of our layover cuddling up in the airport. (sorry, I took these with my cell phone) Looking out the ...
