William Connor Graham

Well, life has officially changed for the Graham household. We are no longer a flexible family of three; we are now a "planning required" family of four.

Monday, February 17th we welcomed William Connor Graham to our family. This pregnancy was very different from Callie's from the beginning and the labor proved no different. Liam came with no complications and required only a 24 hour stay at the hospital. Things went very quickly with the delivery (I was very happy I opted to get the epidural when I did) and although he did not enjoy the labor (his heart rate would drop pretty drastically with each contraction) we were able to avoid a C section or any other helpful means. He was born at 2:16 p.m., weighed a very healthy 7 pounds 6 ounces, and was 20 inches long. Despite having a little bit of jaundice, he is overall a very healthy boy. Much different from his sister, Liam has been a great eater and sleeper - at 10 days he is back to his birth weight and sleeping most of the day and just getting up at night to feed.

Overall, it has been a big adjustment for everyone - more so for Callie than anyone else. She has struggled quite a bit but has been doing better and better each day. Preston and I have to keep telling ourselves that we totally rocked her world and just to be as patient as possible. We are working hard to find that line between patience, indulgence, and firm expectations.....we are getting there. The fits are coming fewer and farther between and she has started to interact with Liam and give him hugs and kisses. I'm sure things will help when Liam becomes a bit more interactive but we are so thankful that he sleeps a lot so we can give Callie the attention she needs/deserves.

Meeting Grandma and Grandpa for the first time

Aunt Sarah was the lucky one to get to be the first to hold him! I guess that's the perks of having Callie for the night

Snuggling with Grandpa

Meeting Aunt Amy and Bennett......I can't wait for Bennett to show him the ropes!

A rare moment - eyes open and alert

He looks exactly (EXACTLY) like his sister!

Rolling and Reading

Callie rolls ALL over the place!!! One of her favorite places to end up is her bookshelf. Look what I found! As a side note, it looks like one of our cats is finally accepting that Callie is part of the family (or atleast, she isn't going anywhere) and has become very tolerant of her. She lets Callie "pet" her and will even walk up to Callie (which, if you know this cat, is VERY unusual - there are some people who still have never seen her). The other day when I was getting Callie from her nap this was outside her door. Apparently the cat loves Callie enough to bring her toys.

Another Plane Ride

So, Callie and I spent my spring break in Pennsylvania. It was a wonderful trip and Callie just LOVED being spoiled by all her aunts and uncles, cousins, and grandmas! (she was a bit in shock when we came back home and she was stuck with just mom and dad - she also took a two hour nap the day we got back, which she has never, never (and probably never will again) done, traveling sure is exhausting!). I was a bit nervous about the very long plane ride, but besides not eating at all, Callie did fabulous! Although, she never really did understand why she couldn't grab the people sitting next to us or in front of us. Even though she got sick on the way back, she was still a wonderful traveler. She loved sitting with Grandma and looking out the plane window (yuck!). We met Grandma in Chicago - at that point in time both Grandma and Callie needed a snuggle, so they spent part of our layover cuddling up in the airport. (sorry, I took these with my cell phone) Looking out the ...

9 Months

It's hard to believe that in 3 months our beautiful daughter will be 1 year old! How fast time flies (and how quickly she changes). Here's some updates (on our very big bug): She weighs in at a whopping 20 lb 13 oz (81% percentile) and continues to be VERY long, measuring in at 29.75 inches (98% percentile). Again, we are not sure who she got that gene from. She now not only can get herself down from the standing position but she also has had a few moments when she has stood totally by herself. On Mother's Day she stood for a good 5 seconds all by herself. Daycare tells us that she now uses other kids heads to help herself stand up (sorry!). She can also walk along the couch or another long piece of furniture. Today I was cooking dinner (Callie is often very content playing in the kitchen with "non toys" while I cook) and I looked over and she was pushing the kitchen chair across the floor. I was so excited, I made her do it again so I could video tape it ...
